John Wesley Young III, age 57, of South Boston, was identified by his family to MassLive. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who is performing an autopsy, has not confirmed the identity.

Police dive teams were called to the area of the Neponset Valley Yacht Club at 25 Wharf St. in Milton around 9 a.m., and they located Young's body just after 11 a.m.

Boston police renewed their missing persons alert for Young last month. His family told officers that he called them the day before Thanksgiving 2023, but no one had spoken to him or seen him since.

He told them he was traveling to Braintree, about 15 miles from Boston. Young did not show up for Thanksgiving, and his family put out the missing persons report.
